Senator Marshall Applauds DOE Funding to Lower Energy Costs for Kansans
Washington – U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D., applauded the U.S. Department of Energy’s announcement that Kansas will receive funding through the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) as part of a nationwide effort to help American families reduce energy costs and improve home energy efficiency.
The U.S. Department of Energy will announce the allocation of $358 million to help American families lower their energy bills, including $328 million for the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) and $30 million for Weatherization Readiness Funds. This funding will support weatherization measures, such as insulation, air sealing, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning upgrades. The 56 grantees include all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and five U.S. territories.
“President Trump is following through on his commitment to lower energy costs for American families, and today’s announcement is welcome news for Kansas,” said Senator Marshall.“This funding will help eligible households cut their utility bills through practical, cost-saving improvements while supporting an energy agenda that puts hardworking Kansans and American energy first.”
“Weatherization makes homes safe, efficient, and affordable,” said Ryan Vincent, Executive Director of Kansas Housing Resources Corporation (which administers the state’s Weatherization Assistance Program). “We’re pleased to work with our network of service providers to keep Kansas homes healthy and comfortable.”
In addition to the Weatherization funding, DOE is today releasing $64 million in State Energy Program (SEP) funds to the same 56 grantees to pursue programming that ensures energy reliability, availability, security, and cost savings for businesses and residents. State governments are critical partners in achieving the President’s vision of American Energy Dominance, and SEP will continue to advance this critical mission.
Kansas is among the 56 grantees receiving funding through the Department of Energy’s Weatherization Assistance Program.
