Senator Marshall: Maduro & Drug Lords Are No Longer Untouchable
Senator Marshall Joins Mundo in the Morning
Washington – On Monday, U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D. (R-Kansas), joined KCMO’s Mundo in the Morning with Pete Mundo to discuss the success of Operation Absolute Resolve, how Americans are safer as a result, and Democrats’ sudden reversal on Venezuela when President Trump acts.

On Operation Absolute Resolve:
“Well, good morning Pete, I think most importantly, Kansans, is that your families are safer today than they were two weeks ago. That Nicholas Maduro was an evil dictator. He was a drug lord, one of America’s most wanted criminals. $50 million reward on his head, so to speak, he’s in custody now. Your families are safer. This was a police operation. The DEA arrested this person. He was the illegitimate dictator of Venezuela. And again, Americans are safer. The world is a safer place today than it was on Friday.”
On the Political Hypocrisy shown by Democrats:
“Pete, where do we start? What I can’t stand is hypocrisy and people being inconsistent. Every type of action like this should be thoroughly reviewed. And I’m sure you have, you’re breaking this down. Was it the right thing to do? Was it within the constitutional rights? But don’t make your decisions to protect the Constitution, so to speak, when you’re not in power. You could go back to Teddy Roosevelt when he invaded. He sent Marines to Honduras, I believe. And after that, Woodrow Wilson sent Marines to Haiti and to the Dominican Republic and so on and so forth. So nearly every President has had some type of a police force, some type of a military presence in South America, Central America, in the Caribbean. So, let’s just be consistent with it, and again, be focused on that this was a police operation. This is part of the Trump phobia that’s going on in Washington, DC, for the most part.”
On Democrats’ shift when Trump acts:
“That’s part of the Trump psychosis, as I describe it, that people went beyond just a syndrome, analysis psychosis. They can’t separate truth from reality. So, the initial indictment was 2019, to your point, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris continue that indictment, raised the ante up to $25 million as well. So, just to be frank, I think the Democrats think that the American public is stupid. They want to tell you when to wear a mask, where to mask, if you need a vaccine, and what you don’t need. And that’s kind of the way socialists work. I mean, look at Mamdami what he’s doing. This idea of collectivism. It’s a new word that I didn’t remember studying in eighth-grade history class. But collectivism, so part of this looking down upon people, that they are the educated class and we working class members aren’t and don’t know what’s right or what’s wrong.”
“Yeah, so I’ll vote no on it. This is the Democrats just trying to keep your eyes off all the great things that President Trump is doing, that we have a great GDP, great growth in the economy last month. Gasoline prices are down. Our families are safer. The number of fentanyl poisonings are going down across the state of Kansas as well. So, this is just one more act, this next chapter of this book of let’s get Trump. So we’ll vote no on it. We have other important work to be done on it. The War Powers Act basically gives the President 60 days on an operation like this before he needs congressional approval. So, I think that the Democrats are once again out of bounds and just trying to grab a headline here.”
On the impacts to illegal drug trafficking:
“So, Maduro is the head of the snake. He’s one of the top three to five drug cartels smuggling drugs into the country. As you know, they were lacing cocaine with fentanyl. So, I think this is one more warning to all these drug lords out there that nobody is safe. You remember the movie The Untouchables? These guys all think that they’re untouchable. Well, guess what, with Donald Trump, they’re all very touchable. Now, you better listen to what he says. He means what he says. You know, I think blowing up these boats, you know, we can debate it, but I think it’s the right thing to do. These drug boats. They’re thoroughly vetted. I mean, like it’s a 20-step process before they’re allowed to take them out. But guess what? There’s not many more drug boats running in the Caribbean right now because of this, or the south or the Pacific Ocean, either over on the Mexico, California side. So, this is a warning shot to everybody. You’re all touchable, and you may be posing as a tin-headed dictator of a country, but if you’re a threat to America, I think it’s all bets are off right now. This is a new day. This Monroe Doctrine that you and I learned about back in history, it’s a real thing now, and we’ve maybe taken it up a notch or three.”
“Yeah, I think you know, that most importantly is everyone needs to understand and acknowledge that Venezuela is part of this evil axis of, you know, China, Russia, North Korea, Iran, and Venezuela. So we’ve broken that up. That’s certainly a step towards world peace as well. You know, I could see us take it until selling oil to China, and maybe that was they wouldn’t have to buy it from Russia. Maybe that helps the situation in Ukraine by paralyzing Russia as well. But I think it’s complicated. Pete, I hate to overpromise and underdeliver. They’re making what, a million barrels a day? America, we make 12, 13 million barrels a day right now. So, I don’t think we’re going to see it coming to the United States. It’s a little bit different oil than we’re used to processing as well. But I think that we’ll use it as another lever towards world peace.”
“Yeah, as I listened to President Trump, what I heard him saying is this oil is a way to rebuild Venezuela and get the people of Venezuela to a path to peace and prosperity, much like Americans have. So, I think that the money from the oil is going to be used to rebuild Venezuela, to get people out of the drug trafficking business and back into the oil industry. Chevron has a big presence down there. Other American oil companies have been pushed out because it wasn’t a safe place to be as well. So, I think that President Trump looks at this as a way to rebuild Venezuela for their sake. Look, I’m not a nation builder. I don’t want any more troops to be there any longer than they have to be, so I think that this is the best economical path for Venezuela, and if an American company happens to make some profits on it, you know, so be it.”
