Thank you for your interest in interning for U.S. Senator Roger Marshall. Internships are offered during the fall, spring, and summer semesters. This position requires outstanding organizational abilities, strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks. Ideal candidates are dependable, professional, eager to learn, and committed to providing excellent service. This internship provides a meaningful opportunity to learn about the legislative process, constituent services, and the daily operations of a United States Senate office.
State office interns will have the opportunity to work closely with our state staff and local partners to gain a deeper understanding of issues affecting communities across Kansas. Interns will assist with constituent inquiries, attend events, answer phones, engage with visitors, and help triage casework while working from one of our seven district offices across the state.
Washington, D.C. interns will have the chance to observe Congress at work. Interns will gain practical experience while deepening their understanding of issues that matter to Kansas and the country. They will also have opportunities to meet other congressional interns and staff and explore the many educational and cultural resources in the Washington, D.C. area. They will have the chance to build relationships with other Congressional interns and staff while taking advantage of all the Washington D.C. area has to offer.
Washington, D.C. intern duties include, but are not limited to:
-Giving Capitol tours
-Conducting Research
-Attending meetings with the Senator
-Attending committee hearings
-Writing memos
-Compiling press clips
-Sorting mail
-Answering telephones
-Triaging casework
