Senator Marshall Praises Passage of ROTOR Act Out of Committee

Washington – On Tuesday, U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D. (R-Kansas) released the following statement after the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation voted to advance the ROTOR Act, which addresses oversight gaps in aviation safety, specifically those revealed in the aftermath of the midair collision involving an Army Black Hawk helicopter and American Airlines flight 5342, originating from Wichita, on January 29, 2025. The bill will also strengthen coordination, transparency, and operational safeguards in American airspace.

“I want to thank Senator Cruz for his leadership on this legislation, and for advancing it through committee, where it now stands ready for a vote before the Senate,” said Senator Marshall. “I also want to thank the Trump administration and Transportation Secretary Duffy for their continued advocacy and work to make American skies safer. While no law can bring back the 67 souls we lost, we can strengthen aviation safety to prevent such a tragedy from ever happening again.”
