Senator Marshall Releases Statement After Kansas Prisoner Review Board Reverses Decision to Grant Cop Killer Parole

Washington – U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D. (R-Kansas) today released the following statement after the Kansas Prisoner Review Board reversed its decision to parole Jimmie Nelms, convicted of the 1978 murder of Kansas Highway Patrol Trooper Conroy O’Brien.

“I applaud the Kansas Prisoner Review Board for reversing its misguided decision to grant parole to cop killer Jimmie Nelms,” Senator Marshall said. “While nothing will ever bring back Trooper Conroy O’Brien or erase the pain from this horrific act of evil, this decision upholds justice by keeping a dangerous murderer behind bars, honoring the memory of a fallen hero, and prioritizing public safety.”
