Senator Marshall Tours Local Businesses, Universities, and Community Organizations Across Eastern Kansas
Manhattan – Last week, U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D. (R-Kansas), visited local businesses, universities, and community organizations across Northeast Kansas to engage with Kansans and see firsthand the work they are doing to better their communities. His stops included the Dairy Farmers of America headquarters, WinField Answer Plot, Tritaca Biosciences, Kansas State University, Manhattan Area Tech College, Junction City YMCA, and Geary County Food Pantry. This is part of Senator Marshall’s 100-stop August tour across the state.
Highlights from the visits included:
Dairy Farmers of America Headquarters
Senator Marshall first visited the Dairy Farmers of America headquarters in Kansas City to participate in an Ag workforce roundtable.

Tribeca Biosciences
Senator Marshall then met with staff at Tribeca Biosciences in Wamego to see the research they are doing to establish a new manufacturing process for the distributed production of biologic and small molecule active pharmaceutical ingredients using wheat germ cell-free expression systems.

Kansas State Nuclear Program
While visiting Kansas State University in Manhattan, Senator Marshall met with educational leaders at the Kansas State Nuclear Program Facility. This fall, the university will begin offering its nuclear engineering program again to undergraduate and graduate students. The nuclear reactor facility will support academic and education programs, research, industrial service, and outreach for Kansas State students.

Kansas State Football Practice Facility
Senator Marshall also stopped by the Kansas State Football Practice Facility with Athletic Director Gene Taylor to discuss NIL initiatives that are shaping the future of college sports and get a closer look at their impressive practice facility ahead of the team’s opening game vs. Iowa State, which is set to take place in Ireland.

Manhattan Area Tech College
At Manhattan Area Tech College, Senator Marshall met with educational leaders to tour the college’s new facilities and hear about engineering programs now available to students going into the 2025 school year. Senator Marshall also shared the wins for technical colleges included in the recently passed reconciliation bill.

Junction City YMCA
In Junction City, Senator Marshall visited the YMCA Day Camp and Summer Food Program. The Junction City YMCA is 1 of the ten YMCAs serving about 507,000 Kansans throughout the state. The YMCA offers child programming and administers a summer food program, made possible through funding from USDA.

Geary County Food Pantry
Lastly, Senator Marshall met with board members of the Geary County Food Pantry. The community celebrated the grand opening of its new, larger facility on Saturday, July 28. The food pantry has been serving the Junction City community since 1989, providing for food-insecure families and individuals.
