Senator Marshall: “Yeah, Scott, I think TrumpRx is something that’s out there, it’s working as we speak, it’s nothing we have to wait on, you can do it right now with your local pharmacists. We were out across the state last week and talked to multiple pharmacists; it’s already there. If you’re on a regular prescription drug, go to Trump RX and see if it’s one of the 30 drugs that are under this most-favored-nation status. That will take you to a website, they’ll give you a coupon, and you give it to your pharmacist. It’s that simple. We’re gonna eliminate the pharmacy benefit manager.”
Senator Marshall: “Right. It takes you to a second website, and then you can get a coupon, maybe take a snapshot on your phone, or you may even be able to email it to your pharmacist.”
Scott Jennings: “Yeah, and we’ve heard some stories of people who’ve saved significant amounts of money on this.”
Senator Marshall: “Yeah, 20, 60, 80 percent. And these are the newest, hottest drugs out there that are some of the most very expensive drugs.”
On the cost of healthcare in Kansas:
“The cost of healthcare is always a topic; it’s a top-three issue for businesses. Now that we’ve had the Working Family Tax Cuts bill, and the small businesses are going to see so many benefits from that, writing off bonus depreciation, interest, deductibility, those types of things, but now they’re back to the cost of healthcare. This is nothing new; the cost of health care was up 50% under Joe Biden, and it’s our job to come up in here and clean this mess up.”
On the plan to reduce the cost of healthcare:
“Yeah, so the President released the Great American Healthcare Plan a month ago. The first point was prescription drug prices and costs, and we talked about Trump RX. We’re also trying to do what we can to trim back the wings of the pharmacy benefit managers. But I really think that the most important piece of that pie is our bill on transparency, on forcing price tags, forcing every health care provider to show you the price of an MRI, an X-ray, lab work, a surgery. You’d be shocked at one hospital compared to another; there may be a 10x difference between the cost at one versus the other.”
On State of the Union topics that are important to Kansans:
“Well, you know, number one, this is our 250th birthday. Kansans are patriots, so it’s great to celebrate our successes, and whether that’s at our border secure or that inflation at least is under control. Last year, real wages go up about $1,400 per job, wage is exceeding the rate of inflation, and rent has come down six months in a row as well, the lowest in four years. So there’s lots to celebrate. And I think going forward, the SAVE Act is what’s important to me right now. 80% of Americans think that it’s a good idea to show some type of ID when you vote, proof of citizenship when you register to vote, it’s a slam dunk. And the question, why is the national media not asking Democrats, ‘Why won’t you support this bill?’ And if they don’t like it, let’s fix it, because 70% of Democrats thinks it’s a good idea.”
On the SAVE Act and illegal immigration:
Senator Marshall: “Yeah, the only reason that’s logical why they would want 20 million people to come in here illegally is they think someday they’re going to be voters. It’ll change the electoral map, among other things. But we need to hold them accountable here. I would end the filibuster in order to get the SAVE Act across the finish line. We’ll see what happens.”
Scott Jennings: “You would end it, or you would just change the rules and go to the talking filibuster?”
Senator Marshall: “Whichever one it takes. I think this is that important of an issue, that whatever it takes to get it across the finish line. But meanwhile, we need to hold them accountable. We need to ask everyone of the Democrat senators, ‘Why won’t you vote yes on this?’”
