Senator Marshall Visits Communities in Eastern Kansas
Overland Park – U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D. (R-Kansas), spent Friday in Eastern Kansas across 6 counties to hear directly from business owners, educators, students, pharmacists, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He learned about local concerns and highlighted his support for businesses, education funding, and his ongoing efforts to lower the cost of healthcare, noting the hard work that organizations and businesses in the area are doing to grow their communities and local economies.

Cecil K’s Hometown Market

Senator Marshall toured Cecil K’s Hometown Market, a family-owned and operated grocery store in Holton with a second location in Westmoreland. He highlighted his support for renewing enforcement of the Robinson-Putman Act, which prohibits unfair practices that negatively harm small grocers, and his Credit Card Competition Act, which would reduce the burden of credit card swipe fees on businesses.

Senator Marshall also toured the Cardinal Glass plant in Spring Hill, which operates 24/7, 365 days a year, and employs 240 individuals. With 49 locations around the country, Senator Marshall highlighted how tariffs are helping Cardinal Glass increase revenue as they have experienced reduced competition in the building and structure glass market.
Jayhawk High School

Senator Marshall stopped by Jayhawk High School in Mound City to meet with the Superintendent and students from across Bourbon and Linn counties. He noted that federal funds from Title 1 funding remain intact, continuing to provide a significant part of the Jayhawks’ operating budget. He also continues to support IDEA Part B funding in the appropriations process to make sure special education students across the state receive the resources they need.

Senator Marshall also visited Auburn Pharmacy in Garnett to meet with leadership and discuss his ongoing work to reduce drug prices for Kansas families. They discussed his support for Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) reform, lower prescription prices available through TrumpRx, and his cosponsorship of the Equitable Community Access to Pharmacists Services Act.

Senator Marshall’s last stop of the day took him to Toronto Lake, managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, where he toured the dam and flood control facilities. The U.S. Army Corp’s facilities in eastern Kansas play an important role in flood control and water storage for communities across Eastern Kansas.
