Senators Marshall & Moran Introduce Resolutions Honoring the Life of Undersheriff Brandon Gaede & Deputy Elijah Ming
Washington – On Thursday,U.S. Senators Roger Marshall, M.D. (R-Kansas) and Jerry Moran (R-Kansas) introduced resolutions honoring the life of Phillips County Undersheriff Brandon Gaede and Wyandotte County Deputy Sheriff Elijah Ming, distinguished Kansans who both recently lost their lives in the line of duty.
“Both Brandon and Elijah were selfless American heroes who committed their lives to keeping our communities safe. Growing up in Colby, Kansas, Brandon Gaede’s life was driven by his unwavering dedication to protecting others, as he immediately began his distinguished career in law enforcement following his high school graduation and quickly rose through the ranks,” said Senator Marshall. “He leaves behind an admirable legacy for his loving wife, Karley, and three children, Axel, Otto, and Emilie. Prior to his distinctive service at the Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Office, Elijah Ming was a standout student athlete at Fort Scott Community College in Bourbon County, Kansas, where he is remembered as the ‘most inspirational player’ by his peers. For nine years, he served with honor for the good of Wyandotte County, and will be remembered for his selflessness to his community.”
“Kansas lost two of our finest heroes who died in the line of duty – Phillips County Deputy Brandon Gaede and Wyandotte County Deputy Sheriff Elijah Ming,” said Senator Moran. “On the days their lives were taken, they were doing what they had always done: selflessly answering the call and stepping forward with courage to serve others. These fallen heroes stood between danger and those they had sworn to protect, and they did so with integrity, honor, and respect. When we lose someone in a Kansas community, it is not just another name; it is someone we know as a neighbor and friend, and their loss leaves a lasting void. We can never repay the sacrifices of Deputy Gaede and Deputy Sheriff Ming, but we have a responsibility to honor their memories and to make certain their service and sacrifice are never forgotten. May God comfort their loved ones in their mourning and give them strength during this difficult time.”
