Senator Marshall Applauds Trump Admin for Major Soybean Trade Win with China

Washington – On Wednesday, U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D. (R-Kansas), issued a statement praising President Trump, U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent, and U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer for successfully negotiating the purchase of three U.S. soybean cargoes by China’s state-owned COFCO, the first Chinese purchase of this year’s harvest. Soybeans are America’s largest agricultural export, and China has refused to purchase American soybeans, as well as other agricultural commodities such as sorghum, since May as a hardline negotiating tactic against the Trump Administration, which has pushed back against unfair trade practices and imbalances by other nations for years.

“President Trump, Secretary Bessent, and Ambassador Greer delivered a big win for America’s soybean farmers,” said Senator Marshall. “After years of being taken advantage of, we’re finally seeing the results of trade policy that puts our American producers first. This purchase is a step in the right direction toward broader trade negotiations with China. Kansas farmers rely on fair trading practices to sell their products around the world, but nations like China often ignore those rules. President Trump is standing up for the United States and leveling the trade playing field across the globe.”
