Sens. Marshall, Moran Announce $491,000 Grant to Improve Water System in Overbrook

(Washington, D.C., October 14, 2021) – U.S. Senators Roger Marshall, M.D. and Jerry Moran today announced a $491,000 U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development grant for the City of Overbrook to help improve the city’s water system.

“Supporting advancement in rural communities is vital to the success of our great state, and I applaud USDA’s investment in the city of Overbrook,” said Senator Marshall. “Every Kansan deserves access to safe and reliable drinking water, no matter where they live. These dollars are an important part of USDA’s efforts to promote public safety and ensure the success of rural America for years to come.”

“Improving the Overbrook water system is an investment into our rural way of life,” said Senator Moran. “Through my role as a member of the subcommittee that funds these grants, I am working to support rural Kansas and make certain our communities have the resources they need to thrive.”

The city also received an $180,000 USDA loan to help finance the project that includes cleaning and repairing water supply wells, repairing and rehabilitating the chlorine treatment facility, building a water supply transmission line from the well field to the city, building a booster pump station and interconnect to Osage County Rural Water District Number Five, repairing and rehabilitating two elevated water storage tanks, installing a telemetry system and upgrading the city’s aging distribution system infrastructure.
